Carrots

This is for our good friends and favorite ex-neighbors, Jake and Erryn!
They had the cutest little garden so today Grady snuck over to pull up some carrots!

Tag

I got tagged (by 3 of my sisters) so here goes...

Here are the rules: Write five things about yourself that nobody knows or that is unique to you. Then tag five of your friends.

1. Even though I don't feel like I dress that stylishly, I LOVE to shop. I really think it is some sort of addiction. Good thing I live in Othello where the only nationally recognized store is Walmart--I'm not tempted by much in the clothing department there. The internet however has definitely fed my addiction--I can turn on my computer and shop my favorite stores at any hour (no driving, no waiting in line, and no Grady tantrums in public).

2. My ceramic hair straightener has changed my life. SERIOUSLY! Growing up I had a wild mane and had no tools to help me manage it. In junior high or high school I found a product called "African Pride" that I used to help flatten my hair out (I think it was like the opposite of getting a perm) which I'm sure was quite damaging but at the time it was the best that I could do. Even later on when straightening creams and the first hair straighteners came out, I couldn't get my hair to look really straight and really healthy and really shiny like I wanted it to be. Finally, a few years ago I used my sister's ceramic straightener one day and could not get over how good my hair felt and looked. I think I even made her let me take it with me to my first few weeks of school at college that year until I was able to obtain my own. I'm not saying that my hair is gorgeous or perfect or anything else, but it has come a LONG way!

3. I am NOT a water dog! I love to go to the beach...and I enjoy riding in the boat or jetskiing but I'll never be the first one to jump in (and I may not jump in at all).

4. I am a sugar ADDICT! I love sweet stuff. My mom is pretty sure I'll be a diabetic any day now. The only time in my life when I haven't craved candy 24/7 is when I was pregnant. I don't really know why I like sugar so much but it could be related to the fact that we NEVER had sugar in our house growing up (no sugary cereals, no pop, no sweet snacks of any kind).

5. I hate the dentist! (This could be directly related to #4 above.) The shots are the worst! Every time I go I have to grip the arm rests as tight as I can so that I don't jump or scream when they go in with those needles. I have had various dental procedures and many fillings in my lifetime and the only thing that gets me through is the laughing gas.

I tag anyone reading this who hasn't been tagged yet!

The Latest

School has started up again--I guess that's why it has been over a month since my last post. This new school year has been a big change--I'm learning a new reading program, I'm getting used to saying "give me 5" twenty times more often throughout the day than I had to in 5th grade, and I'm even getting used to the miniature chairs that really only fit half of my rear end. But it has been good. I LOVE getting off at 11:30 and meeting up with Todd and Grady wherever they are having lunch, and then being done for the day! I can't believe what I am able to accomplish. Unfortunately my house is still not spotless--but I do seem to accomplish way more each day and most importantly Grady and I just get to hang out more. I love it! Grady's new thing is saying "no" to everything. It doesn't matter if I'm asking if he wants a spankin or ice cream, the answer is always no. We had a fun little bout of sickness this past week--Grady was SO healthy all summer and then came down with a nasty cold this week. To make matters worse, he had an allergic reaction to a medicine which made him break out in a nasty rash everywhere. AND he also has 6 teeth coming in--so that's added to all of the fun. It will be good for him to have a few more teeth...with these new ones he'll be quadrupaling his chewing power. Todd played in his final softball tournament--Northwest Nationals--and wasn't too happy with the way things turned out. Surprisingly, though, it didn't take him too long to get over it. Maybe he really does like us and want to spend more time with us! :) Actually, he's already talking about next season...blah, blah, blah...
