One Week of Summer Vacation Down
I LOVE SUMMER BREAK!!! I have loved just staying home with Grady and being able to do whatever we want. We did some shopping, swimming, cleaning, and a lot of laying around this week. On Friday we made a trip to our local Walmart and picked up an inflatable baby pool. When we first filled it up it was pretty much ice-cold water and Grady wasn't too interested in spending any time in it (refer to Photo #1 above), but after several pots of hot water from the house we got it to a lukewarm temperature and he really liked it. Today we had the usual church experience--nursery for the first 2 hours and sacrament meeting spent in the hall. If anyone has any great ideas for getting a one year old boy to sit still and quiet in sacrament meeting we'd love to hear them. It doesn't help our problems either that our sacrament meeting is last so by then Grady is long overdue for a nap. My calling in Nursery has been going well, though. Grady is happy to play and run around--the other kids refer to him as "the baby" even though he is as big as (or bigger) than most of them. Today we had quite the scary experience after church. We were at a family friend's house for lunch. They have a rather large rottweiler (sp?) who was tied up. Grady, who loves dogs, kept trying to walk right up to it and was making barking noises at it--all of which really excited the dog (which is scary when it's a rottweiler). The dog got so wound up it broke it's metal chain and galloped toward Grady who was standing between my brother-in-law's legs. The dog charged into my brother-in-law knocking both he and Grady to the ground--but luckily, it was my brother-in-law who took the hit. It was the scariest thing I have ever witnessed in my life and to the say the least, I am not a rottweiler fan.
